The Experience

Come and celebrate family, friends and fitness as we indulge in the beauty of Historic Downtown Powell while completing this 4-mile tree lined course. The Thanksgiving festivities will begin at Village Green Pavilion with a food drive to support local area food banks. Please bring non-perishable food items to show your thanks!! We will show our thanks by providing you with awesome SWAG provided by local companies!!

Free Craft Beer or Custom Socks

We don’t drink wine and our mothers make the best pie. To show our appreciation for your attendance and in honor of your accomplishment, each participant 21 and over will receive a large bottle of Sideswipe Brewing’s tasty fall beer offerings.* Participants in the 4-miler under 21 will receive custom socks.

The Tradition

Each Thanksgiving we look for opportunities to give back. The Powell Turkey Trot is no exception. In addition to our food drive, we will be supporting the Olentangy Elementary School’s art program. Upon completion of the race you will be rewarded with a finely crafted award, created by our local elementary students.

Charity

As part of an effort to ensure Delaware County children come to kindergarten prepared to learn, United Way of Delaware County (UWDC) is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Imagination Library was founded in 1995 by the Dollywood Foundation to ensure every pre-school child could have their own library of books.

The Delaware County Imagination Library is another piece in the puzzle to helping preschoolers advance.  Each month, from the day a child is born until his/her 5th birthday, a carefully-selected book is mailed to the child’s home for $25/year. However, ALL children living in Delaware County are eligible for the program regardless of their ability to pay, as UWDC offers sponsorships for families who are unable to pay for their child(ren).

100% of donations designated specifically for Imagination Library go directly to enrolling children in the program; which now includes 541 children in Delaware County. Of those children, 83% are sponsored through the generosity of individual, corporate donations and events.

Sign up at www.mylittlelibrary.org or call Brande Urban at United Way of Delaware County at 614.436.8929 regarding sponsorships. Or sign up online to sponsor a child to inspire a lifetime love of reading.
